Frequently Asked Technical Questions

How long can the battery for SPIKE Prime and SPIKE Essential last on average in a classroom?

  • The battery life of SPIKE Prime and SPIKE Essential depends on the number of motors and sensors attached to the Hub and how it is used. If SPIKE Prime is charged to 100% and used for a lesson in a classroom, it will give you the possibility to do approximately 25 lessons with that particular hub before the battery will run out of power. SPIKE Essential has a smaller battery, and will therefore only have enough power to do approximately 16 lessons before running out of power, when charged to 100%. When the battery, for both SPIKE Prime and SPIKE Essential, have decreased to 40% the light next to the center button will start to flash orange. This indicates that the Hub should be charged in the near future, but it can still be used as you can use that Hub in approximately 6 additional lessons before the battery is completely drained.

Why can I not connect to my Hub?

  • Your Hub needs to be restarted. Hold down the center button approximately 3 seconds, and wait for the button to light up. If the button is green, your Hub is already updated and ready to use, but if the color is white your Hub needs an update. You can do this by using a cable or Bluetooth and follow the instructions on the screen.
