LEGO® Education SPIKE™ App version 3.3.0 Release Notes

 

With SPIKE App version 3.3.0, we are relaunching the Python API in the LEGO® Education SPIKE™ App. This is a new editor experience that will be available for both the web app and to download. The single Python API allows for faster program execution, easier progression from Scratch to Python, as well as a more advanced programming and models. The Python editor offers students and teachers a fun and engaging coding experience, which can be used together with SPIKE™ Prime.

SPIKE App ships with new firmware for LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime, which must be updated before the app can be used with a LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime Hub. It changes how the SPIKE Prime hub connects to the app. This should make the connection faster, and ensure that future firmware updates take less time. 

SPIKE App version 3.3.0 improves the app in many ways, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • IMPROVEMENT Python API in the LEGO® Education SPIKE™ App

  • IMPROVEMENT SPIKE Hub sound. The Hub now has sounds to support turning on and off, Bluetooth connection, and when starting and stopping a program.

  • IMPROVEMENT Users can now use a URL to navigate directly to a unit plan or to building instructions.

  • IMPROVEMENT Movement is now smoother, as we have made a small change to medium and slow acceleration.

  • BUG FIXED Fixed issue with color sensor reading and displaying green color in app.
